Choosing a soundtrack

soundtrack can be recorded music accompanying and synchronized to the images of a motion picturebooktelevision program or video game; a commercially released soundtrack album of music as featured in the soundtrack of a film or TV show; or the physical area of a film that contains the synchronized recorded sound.'
- Wikipedia definition

A soundtrack is important because it can determine the genre of the film by the pace of the sound as if it's a fast pace then this could mean it's an action film. Soundtracks make the film more interesting to watch and can provide the film with a theme tune which people will associate and relate with the film.

When choosing our soundtrack we wanted to make sure it was linked to romance and had to make it seem dramatic and emotional as this is the scene which is being shown within the film.

Below is an example of the opening scene from Pearl Harbor, which is a fairly famous film written by Randall Wallace, directed by Michael Bay and starring Kate Beckinsale, Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. The films opening scene contains a soundtrack which has fairly emotional and romantic music and follows a similar style and story line to ours which is why we used this as our initial stimulus when choosing a soundtrack.
